New York- Please enter Lexcia in the Spring Fling drawing...After reading Barack`s letter to his daughters...The Martina McBride song came to mind, "In My Daughter`s Eyes." HOPE....This is what tomorrow brings. Hope that the country will embrace the changes ahead. Hope that those changes will leave a better country/world for our children in grow up in. That their eyes will be open to embrace new possiblities, people of other cultures, religions, backgrounds, and anything is possible if you want it badly enough. "In my DAUGHTER~S eyes" I see the smile, innoscence, and MAGIC of all things possible...I strive to help make her as beautiful inside a person as she is out the outside. Pageantry helps develop the self-esteem to bring out this outgoing personality.

Please enter me into your Spring Fling contest. Aside from sincerely enjoying the NES system I think being a part of the 1st annual NES Spring Fling parallels living in a time where we can see the first black president sworn in. Okay, so you can certainly argue it's not at the same level, but I feel that an inaugural event is special at all levels and I for one have always felt that each day we have a chance to make history whether we know it or not....I would love to be a part of NES's history with the 1st ever Spring Fling.

NY- Hi Miss Tammy, Happy New Year and please enter Mellie in the contest you have for fees off for Spring Fling. I'm not sure how this works but if we have to write why here goes. I know you are a strong advocate for our newest president elect and with Dr. Martin Luther King Day coming up I can say that we, as a country, are getting closer to his dream of judging people by the content of their character. Obama being elected is proof that we are getting closer to that type of society. I preface my next thought by saying it cannot be compared in magnitude, but is important to those of us in the pageant community. What I can't get for the life of me is why people are so quick to judge those of us in the pageant community or judge my behavior as a mother when I support my daughter's hobby competing in pageants. I viewed a trailer for the TV show on the WE network entitled Little Miss Perfect and I was horrified by the actors they had portraying children their parents. I am angered and saddened that the media is just reinforcing the stereotype of what pageant children and parents are. So even know it isn't as shocking as sex, race, religious or other types of sterreotyping, it is stereotyping none the less. As a result, I felt that I had to do something and I did write a letter to the network which may or may not ever get read, but it made me feel as though I did my part. So when I see my daughter in the produce isle of the supermarket showing strangers her "swimwear" routine with teh biggest most genuine smile she could have (she is so proud of herself), I know my heart is in pageantry for all the right reasons. So, thank you for providing her with a stage to shine on and a reason to smile.
